Walleyes and the cold weather coming this weekend

I plan on going up this weekend to fish Johnson Lake by Crane Lake and was wondering what people may think the cold weather is going to do to the walleyes. They are talking a high of 43 friday and high of 35 Sat with lows going down to 26. Will the bite be ok because it has been a gradual cool down as opposed to a cold front slaming in? The lake is clear and deep.

I'm also going fishing this weekend and expecting a good bite up shallow late in the day and in the evening. During the day look for steep breaks near deep water, with feeding shelves on top of the breaks. The fish are putting the feed back on BIG TIME at this time of the year, but they might be transitional between locations so you might have to look for them a bit. If in deeper water use your electronics and trust what you see on there! If in shallower water, you just need to put in your time! Good luck and have a great trip.

Thanks for the info. I plan on bringing my underwater camera also to take a look at those deeper markings. As much as I would love to catch some keeper perch I think they are a little small on this lake to be keeping them and time is valuable so don't want to waste it on them either.

We have been doing well on the river for a while. Our water temp is still 40 to 41 (though after these last two days, I bet it is lower...), I bet yours is 34 to 36 degrees up north. Also for Jigging, the stinger hook helped on the short strikers. If they are hitting well skip the stinger though, as that can deter some bites (less junk or hardware). On my trips, which are day trip btw, the fish are deep 25 to 30+.

Keep Catchin'
