Fuel pump lines

Recommended Posts

89 Chev 1/2 ton 4x4.

I just put a fuel pump in it and now I'm curious. This truck isn't in the greatest of shape so instead of dropping the tank I cheated and cut a hole in the bed. Installed a new pump and wiring harness.

Just to make sure before I hooked up any fuel lines I turned on the key and, thank God, fuel pumped out of the larger of the 3 lines. I'm too lazy to trace everything out. My question is, I understand the larger (3/8) line must go up to the carb to feed fuel. What do the other 2 (1/4) lines do? I'm guessing one of them is a return, and if that's so, what does the remaining line do?

Just curioius.
