Ice House Fabric

I'm in need of a new tent for my old one man clam flip over porty. I know I could just buy a tent, but I'm considering sewin my own (I still have the old tent to use as a template). I figure it's a good way to pass the time, plus I can do any tweaking I want while I make it. So I had a couple of questions that I thought I would get some feedback on. 1) Anybody have suggestions on fabric or a supplier? 2) Any preference on color, will black help retain some sun heat? 3) are there any mods I should consider while sewing it?

I may buy enough fabric to replace the tent on my suitcase style house too, this one has been handed down through two generations and could use some TLC!

I look forward to anyone's advice!! tThanks!

I use Mill End Textiles quite often when I need any kind of fabric. Plenty of options and fair pricing. I can't comment on building your own shell as I've never done that. Make sure you have access to a heavy duty machine for sewing. I'd love to build one someday.

There is a place just outside of down town Minneapolis called Rochford Supply. I am not sure the phone number or the exact address, you can see it from the Highway 94N (TEXTILES.Whatever) on the side of the building, by the bee hive gas staton. They can set you up with blue, black, whatever you want.

You could also try SR-Harris on 169 just north of Osceo. They will get "fish house" canvas in from time to time.
