Tyler23
im looking to buy a goose spread prolly around 24 decoys if thats enough for now?? but my question is what do you guys use for like resters, feeders, active etc... like how many of each do you use or what would you recommend for a spread around 24. thanks alot
Maxxed Out
I usually put out 4-5 feeders for every alert/active dec. Since you're just starting out I would shy away from sleepers as well.
tearin' lips
Agreed, sleepers don't hurt, but more than likely geese are in the field to feed. I run all GHG dekes and usually keep the ratio 4-5 feeders per every active/alert as maxxed out mentioned. Motion stakes definately help in my opinion, I think the Hunters grade is the best deal, but I have found the pro-grades take a little more abuse. buckx37x
yep have to agree we use about 5-6 per looker, and also sleepers are a little better later in the season. for starting out I wont include sleepers. we like to use bigfoots but some days they will decoy to anything some days nothing. Maxxed Out
IT's actually a great question. So many people start out just buying decoys to buy decoys and you end up with the opposite ratio 4 to 5 lookers for each feeder. Not good. Quackaddict9
I started out with the GHG Hunter Series FB's and they worked well but as I grew older I went with FFD lesser's which I really like, the big geese don't care. The advantage to these decoys is that they are light, save room for transportation but IF you are not into "baby" them a little bit, don't get them. I don't mind it, it's part of the hunt...not in a hurry to get out of the field 95% of the times.I hunted over Dakota's today and the geese did not really finish as well as my FFD's...earlier in the morning they seem not to care but when the sun comes out, a whole lot different story. They are not a bad decoy- I'm sure others have had good success with these decoys.Bigfoots are great too, they can take an abusing but I do not recommend the motion BF full bodies though, PIA in my opinion. You can't go wrong with any of the above, If your'e starting out with 24 decoys, I would get 18 feeders and 6 actives

Maxxed Out
I'm with quackaddict. I am partial to GHG's, and for the money I really like the lessers. Last year I signed up for the cabelas club and you get some awesome incentives the first time you use it. Last year when you signed up and were approved you got a coupon for 150 off a $500 purchase, which when you find the decoys on sale gives you a free 1/2 dozen decoys. If you go this route definately get the bags. Also be careful puttin the heads on they tend to be extremely tight...thats what she said...and will break easily
