Any ideas for a non-drop down wheel house?

I was thinking about building a 5'x8' "wheel house" on a standard utility trailer frame and looking for ideas. The trailer that I found at a local retailer for under $400 sits only about 12" or so above the ground. What if I built an ice house and used the commercially available drop in fish hole covers and sleeves to fill the gap between the trailer and the ice? This style wheelhouse would seem to be much easier to move around while searching for the right "spot" than a drop down frame, ....am I right?

This seems to me like it should work, can anyone give me feedback if you have tried this before?

If it was me I would build a house to fit the trailer then put some kind of roller or skid to make pulling it on and off the trailer an easy one man operation, maybe a cheap ATV winch to help load it on. This way your right on the ice. My buddy did what your talking about with an old pop-up camper and I didn't like it at all but his was about 18" or more off the ice.
