Go MOM! Happy Mothers Day!

Most anglers credit there fathers, uncles, brothers, or grandfathers for instilling a strong interest in fishing. True my grandfather and other male influences were instrumental, but my Mom she is the true hardcore in my family, even by my standards.

It has been a tradition to go fishing on mothers day with Mom for as long as I remember, also a gift of a new fishing rod or tackle is a given. Mom just loves to fish, she takes it serious too, ya just gota love a Mom that digs fishing!

I have learned a lot from her and the one thing she instilled in me was if ya want to feel a bite keep the rod in your hands, she seldom miss's a bite or a fish.

Happy Mothers Day MOM, and to all you fishing Mom's out there who fish on Mothers Day, you go girl! Catch a piggy!

And MOM, Thank's for all the fishing trip's and the gift of fishing you shared with me!

Right on BWE!!

I'd have to say thanks to my mother for allowing me to go fishing even when I could have been helping out more around the house.

I thank her for always believing in me and supporting my passion for the great out of doors!

I guess with out my mom, I might never have lost a "nice" fish, broke my line, lost my favorite lure, been bit by numerous deer flies and ran for shelter from the oncoming thunderstorm! In other words, I would have never had the chance to learn "how" to fish!

Also, with out my mom, I would have never been givin' the opportunity to take my son fishing!

DOn't you dare go with out thanking your mom for all of those little things she has done for you over the years and don't just do it on "Mother's Day"! Once she's gone, you won't ever get to thank her again!!

Thanks Mom!!!!

THOUGHT I'D SHARE A LITTLE FISH STORY ABOUT MY DEAR OLD GRANDMA (MYRTLE)
SHE OUTFISHED MY DAD AND HIS BROTHER ONE TIME OUT ON BIG KANDI. THEY GOT SKUNKED AND SHE GOT A LIMIT. HER METHOD WAS SIMPLE....SHE SAID "I THANKED GOD FOR EACH FISH BEFORE I CAUGHT IT"
TO ALL THE MOMS "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!"

There's an excellent article and a real tribute to a fishing mom and her mother in the Star Tribune. Log onto startribune.com
click on outdoors - it's the lead article.
Warning - better get the kleenex first if you've lost a parent that liked to fish.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
