I lost a whole brood of tree swallows during this cold snap we had. There were 6 babies in all. Their parents nested late so they did not have much feathering yet to keep them warm. The good news though, between my other two nest boxes I have 11 baby trees swallows getting ready to fledge and in my bluebird box there are still 5 nestlings making a ruckus. Here is a sequence I caught before work today.

The bluebirds that nest in my yard and pretty shy, but I bet that dragon fly made a good meal!
