i got a few stray mud minnows in with my pike minnows last winter and they out fished the pike minnows. The walleyes love'em.

This may sound dumb to some of you, but what exactly is a "mud minnow" ?

i have never had luck with them ice fishing, i have always heard eyes like them but no luck here

Mud minnows are good bait at a low cost - you can catch them in all kinds of small ponds and sloughs. I've heard of guys hooking em through the tail and just letting them run as they are very active. Good success.
