how many of you use a heavier pound test than is suggested on the spool of your reel? I have a shimano stradic 1000 that is only recommended up to 6lb but I use 8lb on it all the time. I know of course the reel cant hold as much 8lb as 6lb test but is this bad for the reel when I am using the 8lb test on it?

I think the line recomendation is mostly for the effectiveness of the drag. It's most effective using the line that they state on the reel. Other them that I don't think it matters except for the amount of line you can spool on.
