jonny_redhorse
Well....I can't say I came across any great grays this morning but the area sure isn't short of Northern Hawk Owls! .....Found a new one next to the Zim Sod Farms on Hwy#7(Bobby Aro country) and others this morning... this guy was sitting on a powerpole right next to the highway... this one was on the S. Admiral near Kolu intersection... and another shot...
Steve Foss
I like that third one, Jonny. That owl is poised to launch, with its attention firmly focused on something out of the frame. Nice.
jonny_redhorse
Thanks Steve.... I saw this one you mentioned fly from his "sitting post" on Kolu/Cranberry and nail something in the snow about 50 yards from us,then continued into some low alder brush onto S.Admiral for a brief time...sure would have been nice if he would have stayed in the alders for some nice "brush" photos instead of the usual "stick/perch" poses...Jim(jimalm) happened by as the NHO was flying between the trees and he snapped a few also... it's cold when you see the smoke from chimneys in layers like this...morning temps were about 12 below with no wind...classic cold, winter morning in the Bog....
