Minnkota Powerdrive and V2 Powerdrive

I'm having problems with the foot pedal for my 55 Minnkota Powerdrive bow trolling motor. I read upon this issue and concluded that the circuit board was cheap and not we'll engineered. A friend of mine has an extra V2 pedal he has offered me. My question is if the never Powerdrive V2 is compatible with the Powerdrive I currently own?

Powerdrive V2 is a round plug,and the Powerdrive is a flat plug.

$65 bucks at Cabelas. Mine went out,brothers went out,cousins went out. So ya they must have used a cheap part.
