Question for all the John Deere Fans

4 posts in this topic

I just picked up what I think is a gem. But I have some questions... It's an LX 185 Lawn Tractor. It has barely been used and in great shape(new battery, new belts and the pullies are in great shape. The deck is yellow. The tires are original and I mowed with it yesterday and it is awesome. Not a bad pick up for $300 I think.

My first question is, how do I find out what year it is?

Second, where can I find used attachments like a snow blower or plow.

Third, do you guys think that it was a good price???

Thanks guys!

You can find both (year and attachments) at your John Deer dealer. JD dealers often have used implements that came in on trade. The LX series are fairly light weight machines and I'm not sure if they support a snow blower. The GT series machines are what to look for if you want to use all of the attachments.

Looks like it's a 1985, and if it's a Lawn tractor you won't have the hitch to add attachments. "Garden" tractors generally have that, but "lawn" tractors don't. $300 does sound like a good price.

The most important ??? is this....

Did you get a hat???

Old school bilboard or low profile????

Mesh or denim???

Cowboy with a patch....

Dont get me wrong, I am happy for you with this deal, but you can not drive a jon deer without representation. winkwink

    • got time to check it out (finally). All it was was the positive side of the battery has 2 cables that run to it. I found the computer one was closest to battery and the starter one was on the outside. This had to be turned to starter cable first and the computer cable second ????.  Alls well after that. I also had to get a longer bolt in it to make a better connection..
    • I'm in, in zone 13
    • Tough game for the Preds.  Seemed like Rinne really let the team down last night.  The was a "Wild" like performance, shut the other team down and let in a couple softies and let the game slip away.
    • congrats to your dad Borch!
    • That's from the Trailer Park Boys. A hideous beast.
    • Nice work Borch for you and your dad. Congrats . I have been seeing a lot of strutters of the weekend . Those 20 gauges are awesome sure put a hurting on .
    • Another fantastic week of fishing up in the Northwest Angle!

Two weeks into the Minnesota season an abundance of saugers are congregating around Little Oak, as well as other small islands near Crow Duck, making for an easy shore lunch spot while staying close to home. Jigging at 18-24 has produced the most fish but it isn’t too early to be pulling spinners.

On the Canadian side, walleyes are more dispersed but very plentiful on main lake points with current anywhere from 15-20 ft. of water, holes remain consistent.  Almost any method is producing fish, gold/yellow/orange jigs with a minnow seems to be the most popular.  The northern pike bite remains strong with many thirty plus fish being seen.

We hope to see you soon!

    • You can save the mapping data on an SD card. In order to create a map you will need the Zero Line Card. You will take the SD card and plug it into your PC. Down load the map data into the zero line software. The software than creates the map and uploads it to the zero line card. It is typically recommended to use an SD card for the data as once the zero line card is full of either maps or map data another card will need to be purchased.
