Fishpondc
I cut their heads off, gut them like panfish when I was a kid, and grill them with lemon and a pat of butter. When theyre cooked, pull out the bones and skin and dig in.
Bluegill Getter
Hey Guys-Glad to hear you guys are on the trout. I've yet to catch one. I have been more of a gill guy on Square. The bull gill has eluded me so far this year. I know Square has them.I'm sure I missed the spawn... I went 3X this year with my fly rod and got a few gills and bass....nothing big.I'm going out with a friend on Tuesday. I'm planning on hunting gills with my fly rod, but I may just bring a can of corn and my ultralight.Doug
goblueM
I don't think you missed the spawn - Harriet and Calhoun have gills spawning all over them, and I gotta think Square lags behind them with colder water temps
FWA
Ferny, You are correct. My friend, who is an avid fly fisherman in Seattle, said that trout have excellent eyes/vision and will shy away from colored lines. This was true as my Fireline crystal pole produced no trout at a Colorado lake last week. After he gave me that info, and suggested I use either a fluorescent green or mono leader (I used mono), that pole and the rest of my set ups did much better. What also worked like a charm in Colorado was Powerbait trout dough. The particular lake we fished had tones of crayfish, and all worms caught were crayfish. The dough actually floats, so that eliminated all the crayfish action. I'd bet smallmought bass would love being in that lake.

DonBo
So, my boat's home for the first time in over a month. Thought I'd try my luck on some trout. Anyone having luck these days?

fivebelow
Anyone been on Square lately? Any updates on bite/ice conditions- are people driving out. Thanks.
JBMasterAngler
Square hasn't been stocked with trout since spring of 2012. Guessing the bite hasn't been too good.
laxpower17
On the other hand, any trout that are left in there are going to be good sized.
