ECP1989
I have a Lowrance Mark-4 HDI with down scan. Does the down scan only work up to a certain depth? I tried using it In 28' of water and the screen was all black.
delcecchi
I don't think there is a restriction. My elite 7 works deeper than 28feet. I usually run the combo, with regular and dsi overlayed. Someday I will figure out what dsi is telling me.
CaptainMusky
Do you have your depth range set to "Auto". It sounds like the range may be shallower than the depth you are actually in which might explain why you are seeing what you do.

Not to highjack, but when you say you have the dsi overlayed, are you meaning you overlay the downscan image over the traditional sonar? I was doing that on my last trip out and I did not like how it displayed so I am curious what palettes you used and what you think of it??? delcecchi
I just use the default stuff. I picked the display out of the ones shown on the bottom, split screen with gps on one side and sonar/dsi on other side. It is part of learning what the dsi is really showing. I'm not sure I am catching on yet. I'm looking forward to more practice this summer. CaptainMusky

Maybe you will like it. :-)
delcecchi
That's what I do. Funky is right.
