FearNoFish
I have a hand full or more of some tungsten dart sets and has anyone ever melt them down and re-pour like old lead wheel weights? If so I would like to have some jigs made with what I have and split with someone that can melt and has molds to make jigs. Please drop a note back here or PM me, Thanks and HAppy New Year. DTro
You won't be able to do it. Tungsten has a very high melting point, in fact most hand made tungsten jigs are simply soldered.
outdoors247
Yep, tungsten has the highest melting point of any of the pure metals. The melting point is right around 6,000 degrees.
delcecchi
My guess is that jigs are sintered or pressed from tungsten particles, not poured molten tungsten. After further research, the tungsten powder is mixed with another metal, like nickel and heated and pressed. (darts are some sort of mixture or alloy)
