delcecchi
AND WHEN WOULD THIS HAVE BEEN?!?! WHAT! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are asking about the revo/fenwick combo deal, it was maybe 3 years ago. Bought it for the attractive price without knowing anything about the reel, so that tells me that it was under $100 for the combo. Total impulse, as it is not like I really needed another baitcasting outfit.
solbes
I wouldn't doubt that the better reels are easier to learn on and make happy owners. I have an ~$80-ish Pflueger baitcaster that got dusty when I was using 12 lb mono. It was far from top of the line, but I thought it adequate when I purchased. I just didn't like it and had plenty of backlashes (admittedly didn't practice all that often).I then got into fishing for bigger pike and took it out again. Spooled with 65 lb Power Pro (16 lb mono eqvlnt) and it casts SO much better. Backlashes are very rare, and I have always been able to free the birdsnests when I do get them. If I upgrade the rod, I would be perfectly happy with the application (casting lures in the 1.5-3 oz range).
Deitz Dittrich
well I almost doubled my budget and went with the LH Curado. and then a nice Mojo bass to top it off. $3.39 for 900 yards of eagle claw 15lb test to practice with. then I spent the better half of the afternoon in the back yard.(it went better than expected) I even caught a 65lb bulldog.(no hooks) Thanks for all the info. i'll try to post my first outing with it but it might be a while before it hits the water. Enjoy the set up!!!
