trophyhunter
I am going to purchase a drop away rest for bowhunting. Looking for opinions on what to buy. Muzzy zero affect? Trapdoor? Suggestions? Thanks!------------------"A trophy is in the eye of the beholder"
BLACKJACK
Not sure what brand I shoot but its just the two little flippers that the arrow rests on, it seems to work fine. The simpler the better. Make sure that whatever you get can take the abuse of going thru brush, catching on branches.
Guest
I've had the muzzy zero effect rest on my bow for a couple years now and wouldn't be without it. I was a little worried as far as hunting with all of the moving parts, but it has been perfect.I have definitely noticed an improvement in my shooting. The way it picks up the arrow actually makes it easier for hunting situations as well. I highly recommend the muzzy. Just remember to keep it silent - cover the shelf of your bow with fleece of some type as your arrow will be resting on that area, I also covered a portion of the "hook" on the rest with mole skin. simplefish
I'd hit Archer Experts, they have a shop in white bear called Compound Doctor. bring your bow, release, arrows and stuff in and they will help you pick out a good rest for your shooting style and needs. I believe they also have a target range so you can tune it in and get it ready. And if you need help with anything they are right there. I used to go to the archery experts in champlin but they closed. I usually talk to brian, he won't b.s. ya.
HUNTINGBAILEY
I PERSONALLY TRIED THE TROPHY TAKER DROP AWAY REST. ITS WORKED FLAWLESSLEY, I TOOK 3 DEER LAST YEAR WITH IT. IT DEFINATELY HAS IMPROVED MY GROUPING OF ARROWS, MY OLD REST WAS A QUICK-TUNE,IT KEPT HITTING MY VANES ON THE ARROWS. JUST MY OPION (TROPHY TAKER)GOOD LUCK
Johnny B
Trophyhunter,Sorry for the delay. I went out shooting last night for the first time this season and had to look at which one I bought last year I have the Trophy Taker as well. They are available in two different sizes. I prefer the smaller one. Any drop-away rest is an excellent addition to a bow. They increase your accuracy by eliminating fletch contact upon release. As recommended, cover them with a little moleskin.Compound Dr. is good, so is Bowana in Little Canada or Schaffer’s in Burnsville, but I would guess there are shops closer to you in Hutch. trophyhunter
Thanks for all the advice. I ended up with the Trophy Ridge dropzone. The archery shop in St. Cloud said the Muzzy Zero effect,Trophy Taker and the Trophy Ridge Dropzone were all good rests. They talked me into the Dropzone(probably because it was the most expensive). I shot a little and put 22 out of 25 arrows in the 5 spot. I think I will like it a lot. Everyone that I have talked to that has a drop away rest says how it tightens their group. I believe them!! HOGEYE
I too use the Drop Zone on my new LX and love it! I had thought about getting the Whisker Biscuit but decided not to.
