gloomiseye
River is in good shape right now, not too high or too diry. Fish are bittng you just have to find them, not sure how this cold front will affect things though. Heres the latest DNR report for the river.Channel Catfish, Excellent, Anglers fishing for channel catfish in the Boone area have been doing very well. Nightcrawlers and cutbait have been working best on the slower waters on inside bends.White Bass, Good, Anglers continue to catch good numbers of white bass and an occasional wiper below the Saylorville Reservoir. The backwater ponds below Saylorville are producing a variety species including white bass, crappie, and Northern Pike.
gloomiseye
Took a drive along the river today and man is it low! Thinking it might be a tough spring bite for the folks fishing the dams as the low flow might keep them from making very long runs upstream. Fishing deep holes downstream might be awesome though. gloomiseye
Finally got out and did some fishing today. We didn't catch any but did see a couple eyes caught as well as hearing some decent reports. Did have one good hit that I would have liked to seen. Should be picking up here in the next few weeks. gloomiseye
Slow like usual. Lost one 17" at the shore and missed a couple bites. Just seems a little early yet.
gloomiseye
Should have been fishing the river more, sounds like it went crazy this week. A lot of fish caught and heard about quite a few big girls.
gloomiseye
About that time to get out on the river! Wish we could get some higher flows though so I can get the boat out.
gloomiseye
Finally got the boat out on the river. It was high and dirty! Couldn't find any good seams anywhere, current was rolling. Did snag some big buffaloes though, too bad this 20lber wasn't a walleye!
gloomiseye
Got out for the first time this year, managed these two eyes in a couple hours of fishing. Got them vertical jigging hair jigs.
