Small dog spaying ?

I want to bring a yorkie into the family and have a line on one BUT the lady says shes not spayed but never has had a litter the dog is 3y.o. and 6#s and I was wondering if shes to old to get spayed how much it would cost and if $300.00 is a decent deal. any help would be great. Thanks again.

Yes, you can have the spayed at that age. As the animals get older putting them under gets a little harder on them, but she is still young. I would do it for sure so you don't have to worry about going into heat and all that. I would say that price is a decent estimate and maybe on the high side. It's been a while since I've had an animal fixed, but I payed around $150 a few years ago. Call around and get some figures, should be some better deals out there than that.

sorry I should have specified better she is asking 300.00for the dog. I'm just trying to find a ball park total out lay.

Maybe you could work out a deal where she helps pay to have her spayed.

$300 seems high for that age of a dog. We paid $400 for a male this last fall as soon as he was ready to leave the mom. there were 6 month old dogs going for $200-$250, because most people want to get them as puppies. 6# is a good size, our male is now about 6# and that should be about all he gets.

Is she AKC registered? Does she have a pedigree to go with her? To me it seems high for an "older" dog.
