This is actually my first muskie rod. I have been using my dads equipment for far too long. I hope to slowly add to the arsenal. The rod is pretty stiff, but had a good feel. for $60 I thought it was a good price, I will need another rod to throw some lighter baits. ,

Hiya -

Cortland actually makes pretty nice muskie rods. You don't hear much about them because Cortland's a line company that frankly has never really figured out how to market their rods if it isn't a fly rod. A shame, because they're pretty nice rods, especially considering the cost. Gregg Thorne helped design them when he was with Cortland, and he knows as much about muskie rod design as anyone walking.

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

6'3" isn't really that short of a rod. All depends on the person using it and what they are comfortable with. I prefer to use a 6'6" Compre for all my jerkbaits. Feel I have better control over the bait with a shorter, stiffer rod.

Never used a Cortland, but know folks that use them and they seem to like them okay. If it has a lifetime warranty, give er the business and she what she will take!
