This happened so long ago I don't remember where it got stuck. All I remember when I talked to someone on the phone and described the problem he said the ice crystal is the culprit and that the problem should go away. Which it did by the next day. Sorry I can't be more specific.

My water softener has a screen on the inlet from the brine tank to the valve that gets plugged sometimes and you have to take the screen out & clean it, otherwise it won't allow the brine tank to empty. Mine's a Fleck valve.

If its anything like the Kenmore sears some times when you dump the salt in it catches the tube that goes from the brime tank float assembly to the resin tank and it pulls that float asm up and when it calls to fill the brime tank the float doesn't shut of at the right spot because it was pulled up so make sure the hose is free and push the float asm all the was down
