Fishing with the GIRLS

Recommended Posts

Hi Kelly! I noticed that you had a great trip to the UP last month. That is one nice perch you had there. It was a fun trip wasn't it? cool

First off, welcome to our Women's Forum! I didn't have any girl friends to fish with either until I met some gals on here. I sure wish we lived closer though because it'd be quite a hike to meet up and hit a lake, wouldn't it? crazygrin

Hey Kelly, welcome to the Women's forum. I am originally from Gaylord - not too far from you. Now I live in the north metro, but would drive south to fish.

The 2nd Womens GTG is in June at Mille Lacs. Check your schedule and see if you can make it. If you have a boat that's great, but if not, there will be a few boats there.

I second what Fishnovice101 said about joining us at Mille Lacs. I made 6 great fishing friends at last years GTG and we have had many fun times since. We are pretty scattered around Minnesota but somehow we managed to get together every once and a while. I would love to see more women posting here and getting involved with fishing. We are kind of the silent minority. Anytime you are going to be in the Grand Rapids area give me a shout, I live for fishing and have a boat.

Thanks everyone, I will check my schedule in June, and see if that will work for me. It sounds like a BLAST. I really don't feel comfortable bring our boat......I have had time on the water, but not in the drivers seat..........

We may have 3 boats there this year if Shelly comes. Speaking of pontoons, I am going to being taking a Captains course this spring with the Let's Go Fishing With Seniors group. I am so psyched about this coming summer and volunteering for them. Maybe now I will learn how not to beach my boat.

Oh Rats, The GTG weekend is the same weekend as WI Women Fish is having a barge fishing trip out of Alma. It seems like my whole life there were two parties on the same day and I had to miss one. Rats. I guess I should talk to you MN gals further in advance. Tami get on that will ya......geeze.....lol Do you gals have dates planned for the fall because I'm picking the date for the Fall Fish Camp this week so someone please let me know. Next winters dates too if you know them.

We are trying to plan a GTG at Stony Point on Leech Lake sometime late summer or early fall, but don't have a date set yet. First weekend in Oct., I may be at the Fall Frenzy at Appeldoorns on Mille Lacs, won't know the date until Paul sets it later this summer. I became the secretary today for Let's Go Fishing With Seniors and will be going on a lot of their excursions this summer. Hopefully I will have a chance to be the captain on some of them.

Definitly check it all out - we stayed a motel in town, only 36 bucks a night but nice - a bit bigger version of the Paddle Inn. We also all went out to eat together Fri night for a fish fry. It was really a great weekend. Made alot of new friends, even though they are from WI, I still like em' - laugh

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
