Trolling motor for a Lund Alaskan

I just bought a 16 foot Lund Alaskan with a tiller. I am looking at a MinnKota 55PD V2 with a 48" shaft. Is this a big enough trolling motor for this boat?

I would recommend going bigger. I have a 55 now, but next boat will have 85lbs (or whatever). Can I give you one tip, that you may already be aware of? Particularly if you go with the 55PD, get the biggest trolling motor battery you can afford. I have a Trojan 31 series and it has made a huge difference....

On smaller waters in all but the windiest condition yes. On big water with any sort of wind, no.
