Ortonville for snows???

Just wondering if anyone has ever hunted this area for snows. I have a farm out there and have seen thousands of snow in the refuge in the spring but im not sure this happens every year. any input would be helpful!!

I was wondering the same thing...started leasing land about a mile from the refuge a year ago but haven't hunted snows there yet. Can anyone report on whether its worthwhile or not to hunt there?

at times it can be great.but you have to able to hunt when they are here.they may be here 1 day and 2 days later you can not find a snow in the county.last year there was the most i have ever seen they where around for about 3 days then we got that big snow and they where gone didnt see any hunt able #'s after that. shoot me a # where you can be reached at and i can help you out.i dont want to be a jerk but i would rather not post stuff like that

Look north of Odessa off of 21 to the east in the public areas.After the feds cut down the tree's it got better.

Look both sides of 75 north to Theilke lake on the way to Clinton.

Also check Nassau think it was Pig lake and the farm to the west right off the boarder?

Used to shoot a few between Madison Beach to Beardsly is another good spot...

All depends if they get blown by west winds to stack any up.. Otherwise if your already that far head to Waubay/Webster

Isn't that kind of the point of a conservation shoot? Or did you have dibs on these birds?

With the refuge or any of the above mentioned even partially open and on such a easy place to scout it would'nt take anyone long to find them......

Im agreeing with ya Bryce. Its actually a very easy place to scout and if they aint there 45 minutes to the west and your into em..

i just dont understand why a guy other than a local would bother sneaking, decoying, or pass shooting a relatively small flight of birds, when if you drove 1-1.5 hours further west you are in the heart of a 3 million bird migration. but hey to each there own!
