I'm looking for some information about Lake Winter. I'm thinking about renting a cabin there and just want information about the lake. Is it good for kids to swim, ski, tubing, etc. Also, how is the fishing? Any information would be great! Thanks in advance.

I've never fished it but I work with a couple of guys from that area and they do pretty good on the walleyes and bluegills there. There's also a pretty good population of muskies in the lake.

Next time I see them, I'll ask about swimming, tubing, skiing on the lake.

We have a cabin on Lake Winter. It's most definitely an "outdoorsman's" lake if you know what I mean. Lots of wood and weeds. My kids do swim off of our dock, but the bottom out that far is very mucky. Doesn't seem to bother them at all though. We also tube, but you need to be very mindful of where you're at and where the stumps are. As far as the fishing goes, it has become a solid bass, northern and panfish lake. Walleye are very hard to target. There is no typical walleye structure so they have very strange habits. Plan to lose plenty of tackle if you try to jig for them...

The muskie fishing has been down the past 3-4 years for whatever reason. There are fish in there, but they have so much to eat with the panfish population as high at it is, that they can be tough at times. Hope this helps.
