trolling motor

Question

ok as a lot of you probably know, i got a new boat and am in the process with buying everything for the "makeover" thats going to be going on in the next month...

right now, i am looking at trolling motors. i am going to get a transom mount, and most likely a minn kota. i figured i want at least 40-42 lbs of thrust but would prefer 50 or 55lbs.

i see c a belas HSOforum has a pretty good deal on reconditioned minn kota's. i could get one with 50lbs for about 200 bucks.. this is the most i am looking to spend.

i see you can buy a 55lb reconditioned minn kota from fish electronics for about $180.

Does anybody know anywhere else where a guy can get a good deal on a trolling motor?

Thanks much

ok so from fishing electronics, i can get either a 50lb/36 inch shaft or a 55lb/42 inch shaft for basically the same price....

so my question to all of you is, what shaft length would be ideal for my boat? if your ever trolling in choppy waters, it is important to have one that isnt too short.... and if your ever trolling in really shallow, its important to have one that isnt too long... so 36 or 42? anybody with my type of boat have any input on what lengths of shaft is on their trolling motor?>

go to the regional forum section and look on the top where people are selling stuff. I went thru all of them looking for a MK bow mount and noticed some transom mount MK for sale. You will need to go to each region. Doesn't take long to look thru them. You can also call the motor clinic and see if they have any in stock...new,used,reconditioned. I called yesterday and the guy said it is best to call Monday's and see what is in stock. They are starting to stock up for the season and Monday is the best time to call to see what has come in and to find out what they can get.
