Flippin Tubes

What's everyone's favorite flippin tube? Why? Also, what's the best hook to rig these with. Finally, weight...1/2, 3/8,1/4 etc... what do you find yourself rigging up with most often. Going shopping this weekend and would like some opinions to give me a good start here. Thanks.

The Berkley 4" Flipping tube is my favorite. A solid head and Powerbait scent. Pumpkin w/green/red flake is killer, just ask Cecil... I think it's his favorite too!

Outkast also has some good tubes, salt AND garlic infused.

I usually use a 1/4 oz weight, and sometimes a 1/8 oz with a bead. But, if I'm pitching thick milfoil I'll use a 3/8 oz.

I like the Yum Garret Mega Tubes mostly - black/blue, Carolina pumpkin. Also like the Lake Fork Craw tubes but that is a bit of a variation.

Weight depends upon situation. For flipping it is generally 3/8 oz up to 1 oz depending upon how thick the stuff is. Will go much lighter if I want to drag it across pads and allow to drop in openings, etc. - like under 1/8 or 3/16 internal weight.

Hiya -

I like the Berkley Flippin tubes too. Green pumpkin is about the only color I carry anymore. Works about everywhere as near as I can tell. Early in the season or in clear water though, the Northland Flipping Tube in their Bluegill color is awesome. Boy do I wish they made their Goby pattern in a flipping tube...

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

Berkely Flippin tube is nice and stinky with scent as RossT said but you dont get too many per pack. Salt tubes, although a little short, are a little cheaper. At least nobody said the hollowbelly tubes are best for flipping...

I'm not much for flippin but isn't that where alot of fishermen put rattles when flippin? In hollow tubes.
