Brian,

The best thing to do is buy yourself a map at your local shop or Gander Mt. that shows all the public hunting areas. That will give you an idea of what is available to your area.

Another option is to drive around your area and stop in at farms and talk to the farmers.
What do you think Fmer's- are these two good options?

Yep, both are good options... A Platte book can help as well to see what is state and what is private.. It will also give you the name of the person who owns the land.

Often times farmers are glad to get rid of a few head of deer, they ruin crops. Look at it this way, the worst thing that they can say is NO...Move on to the next... Hint: wear nice cloths, look respecfull, talk inteligently, and respectfully... you would be surprised!

definatly talk to the farmers
they are usually glad to let another guy on. it happend to me!! you just got to be polite and go by what they tell you. alot of times they have accually been watching the deer themselves and will give you tips. me personally i cant shoot a buck but i dont care. i would rather be able to hunt and not shoot a buck than not hunt at all! like another guy said just ask, what is the worst that will happen they say no!!
another thing that most farmers like is for you to give them some of the harvest! or at least offer it to them, i have had alot of farmers turn down some of the ducks and geese my hunting buddies and i have shot, and others are glad to take a hunk of meat.

this is just my 2 cents
