Black lights

I'm really not sure how well a black light would work off of a boat, but it definitely never hurts to try! I would imagine a soft glowing neon color such as red would work well, and they're cheap as well ... I generally stick to shore fishing, since I no longer own a boat, so I guess my .02 cents may be less valuable than others on here ... but I say find some cheap neons from an auto part store and give it a go

Haha I must have misinterpreted what the original poster was asking ... I was under the impression he was asking for boat illumination ... WWW I agree, a simple 10-15 dollar AAA LED headlamp like you can find at Wal-Mart will suffice, mine has a two LED spot, two LED flood, and two (red) LED night vision setting ... can't really beat that for 15 bucks!

Definitely man! Just started river fishing last season ... I was mainly a pike/muskie guy, but I got addicted to the river! Our best last year was a 30# with multiples in the 20-30 range ... my goal this year is to hit forty five ... from the looks of your avatar, you must already be there! Nice fish man

Oh by the way man I was thinking about it a bit, and I think a great option for your boat would be an led rope light ... they are generally sealed off from the elements, and will provide the illumination you probably want, and are very easy to mount ... I find that red at night really helps to keep your night vision intact, but I hear that green works just as well

I hear ya! i love the lakes, but would fish a river any day! and yeah that one i got there bit at like 2 in the afternoon! couldn't believe it! Most of the big ones i usually snag into are towards evening or at night.
Likewise bro I generally stick to evening/late night for flatties, strange that you were able to hook into that pig in the afternoon, but just goes to show that no effort is a wasted effort!

We should all meet up sometime and fish the Blue Earth or Minnesota...

And I second some rope lights.

Jeff I agree with you there ... well we fish together every time anyways, but Alex you are more than welcome to join in with us the more the merrier!
