Be careful what you buy. I have seen a lot of "gray market" electronics for sale on the internet. Usually a little cheaper but all the instructions, warranty stuff etc. is in Japanese. You have to ask cause they ain't gonna tell you. Won't be covered if it's gray market stuff that's not supposed to be sold here.

Yes, gray market is another big thing to look out for. One can get burned on that just as easily as the unauthorized dealer thing.

I've bought both type of items, but know and accept the risk in doing so. So far it's worked out fine for me. For some others it has not.

I wouldn't recommend it to others unless they understand the risk and are willing to possibly take a hit if there is a problem.

Certainly, one must consider part of the cost savings to be self-insurance just in case.

If it is new and has not been registered with the manufacturer I would think it would be ok. Yes No

Unless it's gray market, I would think it would be covered under the manufacturer warrantee, no matter who you buy it from. It probably depends on the manufacturer.

Go to Lowrance's HSOforum and click on support and then warranty information...

Online Auctions

Authorized Lowrance dealers do not sell new products directly in online auctions. Purchases made through an online auction are on a "buyer beware" basis. Online auction confirmations or sales receipts are not accepted for warranty verification and Lowrance will not replace missing components from any package purchased through an online auction.

I agree with it. If you buy it on an auction, how will the manufacturer know it is not used? How will they know the box wasn't opened and parts missing?

If you buy it from an auction, don't expect warranty. (No matter what the seller tells you, he has your money and you are left on your own.) If you are willing to take the risk and get a great deal, then go for it.
