I use a 12lb florocarbon leader. I do alot of trolling and seldom have cut offs with no leader. I do like using the fluorocarbon leaders when trolling 15 FOW or deeper. I find that when I catch Northers from that deep of water the Northerns tend to do death rolls and get sliced up from the thin line. No they are not bite marks.
