I still havent gotten my Grand Slam Flyer in the mail Tom!

Good thing I took things into my own hands and went to Marine General and got one.

Im just saying this because I think you may want to make sure that everyone who fished it in the past actually got one in the mail. crazy

I'd like to personally thank Drew for getting a flyer to my partner -- Thank's buddy!! - so now that that's over with!!! I'm now locked in to fishing it and having a GREAT time and out of all the tourny's I've fished this is by far the hardest to learn about or donate my $$$ to. Sorry about the rant.. I spend the little time I have on this site on the Duluth area because of the quality of the sticks and knowledge of our craft. Lets attempt to make that quality go further into promoting or sport, the area and the people alittle easier...

Thank's and cant wait to finally meet and see you all...

Its going to be a great year for the walleyes on the river. Seeing lots of them out in the big lake still so they all arent in the river yet.

Tom,

looking for a definite yes that the tournament is taking place this year. With the HSOforum down and some of the registration confusion, I know of at least 2 teams that are holding there money until they know for sure that the tournament is taking place. thanks

the Grand slam is may 16th and 17th and June 6th and 7th. fishermans corner has 20 plus flyers on they counter. So if most ask if they can not see them they will get pointed in the wright direction. I do know we are ahead of last year and the way the phone has been ringing this last week we should get it filled up the next 2 weeks we just have room for 18 boat's so the ones that have sent in "are in" and after it is full that is it no more than the first 50 Boats.

I hope you all have a great opener the river should be great the temps today where 45 to 47 degrease and for walleys that are spawning they like 42 to 46 degrease so we are there now and come opener and the grand slam they will be more spread out. This will make for great fishing for every one. It will be fun to fish all over the river and harbor this year than just up river. ""Well good luck guys"" I do wish every one good luck. and I will post back from time to time and will let you all know when we get to 50 Boats.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
