jakeboy
Just wondering if anybody has an idea how big or small my dog might be from past dogs. The parents were both around 60 pounds, but my dog looks small, compared to other dogs. At 17 weeks old she was 19 pounds. Do you think she will get to the 60 pound range?Thanks- Jakeboy
grousehunter
My guess would be she won't reach 60lbs, but its just a guess. I have heard doubling a dogs weight at 4 months(16 weeks) Is a good estimate of its adult weight. That would put her at only 38 lbs, so I doubt she will reach 60. Ralph Wiggum
I have heard doubling a dogs weight at 4 months(16 weeks) Is a good estimate of its adult weight. I think that might be somewhat breed-dependant. My dog was about 60lbs at 4 months, is 140lbs at 10 months, and still has some growing to do
FCspringer
Sounds close, but just keep the dog on good quality food and as much as it needs and don't skip on worming. It may not get as big but probably close. Some have huge growth spirts at diferent stages too. If you kennel or crate the dog during the day make sure it is quite big for room, I have been told that crampt 1/4's for a pup can stunt growth too, not sure if that is true but why take the risk. Good luck.
