Thanks all.....I never tire of these colorful little guys!...especially trying to get them in there boreal forest habitat/background with the different forms of lichens...sometimes the backgrounds add as much interest to the image as the bird subject itself!....

I agree. I finally got a decent pic of a red poll in my yard, but the environment is just not there. I love this photo. And the bg is wonderful.

It has been a treat to have these sweet little birds around this winter, not what we've typically seen in our neck of the woods, er, prairie. It is equally a treat to see great photos of them such as this one. After decreasing in number last week, since Monday they are crowding the goldfinches out of some of the feeders again.
