croixflats
So from what I can tell the SuperBowl has only been payed in a northern city 3 times. Why is it almost always in a southern State. Shouldnt it be fair that other cities have the chance at the revenue the game can produce. And the league wants new stadiums but don't showcase but a few of the cities in the league. Or is it the cities dont want it.The game has been played mostly in Florida and New orleans. 13 times in Florida(14 after next year)9 times in New Orleans 13. The game would be more intresting if the elements had a bigger role in the game.
mr_jman
My guess is any city would be happy to host a super bowl. As a player though who wants to play the Super Bowl in Febuary in freezing cold conditions. Plus there is so much going on the whole super bowl week that it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable for the fans and all the events that take place. I doubt the Super Bowl will be played in a northern state for many years, even if its at an indoor stadium like Detroit, and Minnesota stands no chance of getting another one unless we had a new enclosed stadium. Sandmannd
It would be cool if they rotated it to all the cities. If it's cold, well that's just a factor of the game. But it's bigger than the game. They use it at a chance for more revenue and a lot of things are held outdoors. Would be hard to do all that in the north. Maybe someday, but I don't see it for a long time.
croixflats
From my understanding the cities bid on a superbowl game then the owners decide on which one to go to in 4 years advance. With the track record of the leage its obvious they are willing to ask for handouts from the cities and states for stadiums but dont want to pay it back in the form of revanue. Shoot I dont care if a player has to play in foot of snow or 0 degree weather its their job.I think it comes down to is the market must pay off with the biggest divedends at the end of the day. This is why the smaller markets are left out. Yes ounce every 10 years they throw a bone to the northerners but its still a snub in the face of those that pay their salleries via the fan.
