Mille Lacs Weeds

I fish ML for Muskies about 2 or 3 times a year. I usually fish the north end but have fished other parts of the lake as well. Am I missing something or is the weed cover a bit sparse along the north end? The weeds along the 169 side seem thicker.

They are sparse, but they spread for miles across the north end. And when it was good (pre-'08), there often were several fish in a small clump, as well as just up in the sand without a weed in sight.

bingo, search and find the thicker parts, it doesn't take much. also be aware of areas on the sand where the weeds grow up shallower than other spots.

Late spring, weed growth was down all year.
