4.5 inch auger

I was at cabelas last weekend and saw the nills 4.5 inch hand auger and thought that it would be nice for the ducer and it would also be nice to use a hand auger in early ice, and if they cut as fast as people say they do, why not? I was wondering if 4.5 inches is big enough for panfish or anything, it just seems so small, if anyone has one and uses it it would be great if you would say what you think about it! Im wondering if it would even work for fishing?

We easily got a 3.2 walleye in through a 4 inch hole early ice this yr. I use my 4 inch lazer early ice every yr and love it.

i have fished over a 4.5 inch hole a couple of times during early ice for pannies. never had a fish not fit up the hole. we also used them to put the ducer down. too. we were fishig mille lacs for perch too never had one not fit. i have always thought of gettin one but i already have a gas an two hand augers.

nice, ya i have thought about gettin a hand auger for early season and I saw the 4.5 at cab on sale and was just wonderin if it would be worth it to not have to haul out the gas auger in the early ice

I see an awful lot of 6" Nils blades. After seeing how fast they go through ice you might consider going that route.
