taylors cove..rainy lake

Recommended Posts

I used to go to taylors cove on rainy lake every year when I was younger for fishing on rainy lake. I have not been there for around 8 years now and can not find a HSOforum or any info online. Does anyone know if Ed still is running taylors cove or if it is still around? I was thinking of heading up there this summer and would love to stay there again. Thanks for any contact info you can give me.

Ed is still running the resort and is still making improvements. If you haven't been there is 8 years you will find a different resort. He has remodeled most, if not all of the cabins, has done a lot of dock work, and closed the campground. Fishing is still superb.

I'm sure I won't be paying 35 dollars a night anymore either laugh. Does he still have the camper cabins? I can't wait to go hit some of those walleye and smallie hot spots of the past. Went there most years from 3 to 18. Need to get the marked up maps from my dad grin

He still has the camping cabin open on the beach side. I'm not sure about the one on top of the hill. I think one of his relatives has that one full-time now. I used to take my kids there two or three times a year. I have a lot of memories and film of those kids slamming walleyes, hiking the islands, picking blueberries, water-skiing, etc at Rainy. Then they went off to college and found tree hugger boyfriends and girlfriends. One moved to Cal and the other has to work to support his family. So now I have two 5 year old grandkids that will be learning Rainy this year. Since Ed closed the campground I've moved over to The Landings up on Redgut. Those spots didn't move. Just about any rocky point or reef has summer walleye and SMB. Good to think about this stuff on a cold winters night.
