fishhuntwork
Looking at buying a new truck this spring, wondering if anyone owns a new ford f-150? The main reason I am looking at a ford is that the f-150 comes with a 6.5 ft box and the chevy doesn't in the 1500, need a way to haul my portable thats 6 foot long. Any comments would be grealy apprecaited. I don't want this to turn in to a chevy vs ford forum. Thanks for your help once again
Scott K
I dont own one, but I want to! They are pretty neat, if you havent seen one or driven one, I recommend it!
SStracker
I test drove one a few weeks back and really liked it. Only reason I didnt take the sale further is because the dealership was giving me next to nothing for my trade in.

Are you looking at a crew cab, or did Chevy take all 6.5' boxes out of the half tons?

jwhjr
Thanks. That's what I thought, but I haven't looked at trucks for awhile and I thought maybe it changed.
DRH1175
I have done some in depth comparisons with the F-150 vs the Chevy 1500 Unless you step up to the 2500 HD the F150 is by far a tougher yet more comportable truck. I am not biased towards either I have owned them all and own a durrango right now. The F150 just has way more options that are user friendly and the 1500's just seem too light duty to me. The 5.4f ford has more torque for pulling and with a 6 speed tranny really smooth makes the truck make sense imho. If you like it I wouldn't hesitate for a secong. One of the best options is the 6.5' box.
fishhuntwork
Yeah it drove really nice, alot nicer than the older fords. I have my heart set on one but the $34,000 they get for them is the real issue for me right now.
deadeye
Im a chevy guy myself, But I do have to admit that the new Fords are a real step up from what they used to be. I would have no problem driving the 09 myself. I really like the idea of the trailer control too. I know what you mean about the money factor though. Its a lot of dough to drop on something that gets abused like a pickup does.
CJH
Haven't driven one, but everything I have heard has been good. Love the interiors on those trucks!!!
DRH1175
They are Expensive! I would like to replace my Durrango with a pickup but with only 65k and no payments it is hard to jump back into the $500 payment. The F150 is one sweet truck! I am also looking at the 2500 hd with the duramax for pulling a future camper. But if I do go gas it will be the F150!
