aczr2k
This is what happens when your in high range instead of low...I guess. After a 1/4 mile or so walk home, I scooped and snowblowed a path out to it, my dad and brother supervising. The tractor was the only option, nothing else would budge it. We did take it up to LOW on friday and saturday, it seemed to work okay, other than being sloooow. Top speed 16-18 gps'd on the bomber trail pulling the portable fish house. On the hard pack probably around 25. Not really impressed with the setup, with this sugary snow we have up north my 800 sportsman will go anywhere this thing will and much faster besides. I think the ranger is just too heavy for this small of footprint, and way underpowered. Low range is too slow, running on the rev limiter, and obviously high is too fast. Oh well, a $100 belt and lesson learned....the hard way as usual.
Dave S
Are those the Polaris Prospector tracks? Some of the tracks (not sure about Polaris) have a gear reduction built into them so it's not always required to run in low range all of the time. Depends on your intended usage, terrain and how fast you're going. That is a sweet looking set up.

Prudence
Wow, not a good feeling at all. Curious, how many hours/miles on the belt before the shred? I've been thinking about adding tracks to my 07 XP, but may need to consider the Tatou's...
aczr2k
I think around 1300 miles, I guess the new belt is supposed to be a better belt. I'm sure I would not have had any belt issues had I been in low. From what I've found out the prospector II tracks had more gear reduction allowed you to run in high range in the snow. The prospector pro's have less reduction to allow a higher speed on the hardpack, thus requiring you to drive in low. I'm sure with an atv its much less of an issue. Had I not gotten a great deal on these I would definetely consider the tatou 4s utv tracks, the rear track has almost twice the area of these.
