Will Posted January 18, 2009 Share Posted January 18, 2009 i just installed a new exhaust system on my grizzly 600. the old exhaust had heat shielding welded and bolted on to it, the new one does'nt. anybody have any suggestions for me? can i run without it? or am i risking a fire? Dave S Posted January 18, 2009 Share Posted January 18, 2009 You run a higher risk of melting plastic than having a fire. I would recommend at least adding a foil tape to the plastic around the area of the exhaust. DO NOT apply the tape directly to the exhaust.Your local dealer should have this available. If not, try your local auto parts store.Also make sure you're jetted properly and your exhaust shouldn't over heat as bad. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dozer Posted January 18, 2009 Share Posted January 18, 2009 I have a pipe on my 660 grizzly and ran it for awile without any heat shield but the plastic would get so hot it hurt your leg if you touched it.
