Broken auger handle

walleyewild

Question

Was out fishing yesterday, didn't start out very well.

While I was warming up my Strikemaster Mag 2000 it slipped out of my hand and hit the ice and broke the handle on the throttle side.

Anyone have any luck with doing a temporary repair, as in drilling a small hole in the handle and putting in a screw and epoxy on the broken part of the handle?

I know I will have to call strikemaster tomorrow and get a new handle sent out.

Borch,

Thats what I was thinking, it was a clean break and I know that a replacement is needed, but I wanted to do some fishing today and a temp repair is in order. If I had the tools and shop to do it in I would make it much more permanent.

Thanks for the reply.

Where is the break, near the auger head or on the handle where you hold it? I met a guy on the ice that had his break where you hold it, he took a length of conduit and cut it in half lengthwise put one side on the bottom and one side on the top of the handle and duct taped it. Said he had been using it that way for 2 years.

Did the same thing to mine about a month ago. I know right where it broke on ya! I took the whole handle off and stuck it in the vise and drilled a pilot hole for a 4 inch screw and just screwed the two broken parts of the handle together. It's a little sketchy but It's getting me by. New handle run's about $45 or so! So far it's the only complaint I have about the Strikemasters...(handle breaks pretty easily)! I'm on the second one so far! Good Luck
