hoggsback
This is an easy 1 hour beef stew. I usually make stew in the slow cooker from scratch, but tried this for the first time and did it on the cooktop.1 lb. beef stew meat1 packet McCormicks beef stew seasoning mixVegetables of choiceFollow directions on McCormick mix. I added 1 potato cut up, 4 carrots cut, 1 onion cut, 3 stalks celery cut, 2 extra cups water.Browned the beef after tossing in seasoned flour to coat. Added seasoning packet, water, veggies. Simmer for 45 min. to 1 hour. Ranks at the top as the best beef stew I or my family have had. Pretty surprising as it came from a packet and was very quick and easy. hoggs222
I do the same thing, except double the batch and add a lot more veggies. I usually use 3 lbs meat. For the flour and meat, put both in a ziplock bag and shake it up. Oh, and instead of water, I use tomato juice to give it a a tomato base. I also slow cook it in a crock pot for 4-6 hours. Makes the beef really tender. This way you can get by with a cheaper cut of beef. Good stuff!
