Can you use the summer fireline for ice fishing?

Sure you I can use it all the time. I have the smoke on a couple poles and the crystal on a few others.

Fireline also makes a variety of ice lines. I have it on one of my rods, and one thing I have noticed is that it doesn't ice up as easily as mono if a person is outside the shack doing a little hole hopping.

I've found the opposite. The only time I've had luck with it in the winter is when staying inside a warm shack.

I use Power Pro 8/1 on my panfish rods and add about 3 feet of 4lb flourocarbon as a leader. It works out very well and gives you a little extra pop if you stick a walleye or northern on it.

well I want to use it for lake trout fishing, but they inly come on 50 yard spools. When i might be fishing in more then a 100 feet of water thats not much run room.

KG- you should be fine, they do some extra water resistant stuff with the ice lines to make them less chance to get iced up. If you are fishing in a shelter you should be great.. if outside, you may have a few issues with the line icing, but you should be ok!

This has been my experience as well. Like using it, but on real cold days and fishing outside, iced up to point of unusable.

I use it and like it.. BUT.. Late ice, when I am playing a game of chess with the SLAB CRAPPIES, I may switch to light mono for more stretch on the hook sets.. Less tearing.. Or I may use a stretch of light mono with tiny barrel swivel,applied to the fireline..
