Flasher Batteries

Recommended Posts

I just got a 1 Season old LX-5 with a 12 Volt 7 AH battery in it. The guy I bought it from said the battery is only 1 month old. I want to get a bigger 12 Volt battery for it, and keep the one that's in it for a spare. My ? is can I put a 12 Volt 12 AH battery in my LX-5 and NOT damage it? If not what is the best size and brand to put in my Flasher? I would like some thing better than 12 Volt 7 Amp Hour.

Al - question, whats wrong with the current battery? My dad and I have 4 seasons on our LX-3's with the original 7 ah batt. We've put about as many hours on them as you can with no glitches. Sun up to sun down and juice to spare.

Most up-grade with the 12v 9ah. I have not heard of more than that. Im sure Timmy will have an answer... smile

Sniper, 12V any AH you can fit will be OK. It's the size case that fit's in there that is the issue not AH. Just a FYI. F/Farm has 8&9 AH batteries on sale this week. I went and got the 9AH for my FL-18 which only had an older 7AH it came with.

DC- I just thought that having a larger battery would be better for like those really cold days when Mother Nature sucks the life out of anything that runs off battery power (cell phones, cameras, hut lights etc...).

I guess I'd save the cash or use it on more jigs, lol. Unless you plan on fishing for two days straight crazy

Al, if you are going to get a spare get one just like you have or a 12 volt 9AH, remember when you are not in season you will have to charge it a few times to keep the battery's life going. I have 3 gell cells and 3 fishfinders and I use them all year round.I think DC is right buy more JIGS ;)SAVE YOUR $$$$$$$$$$$$

I was going through a Vet owned company and Todd's battery had reliability issues and now I just ordered from a different company PPS it was $21 for the battery and I ordered (three) one for Tuzzy because his Helios gave out after 6 years. One to replace Todd's, my bad on that one... It is $10 or $11 to ship one, get a coup[le of friends and you can save on this... The three I ordered was $17 for the shipping. Different manufacturer and hopefully it will have beeter durability. Will soon fid out. Al it will add an extra few ounces or so to you LX_5 when you put the 9 amp in but it will fit...

Chris - Are you sure it's the DCS or is it the wall charger? It's usually is the wall charger. If there's no problem with loose wiring in the DCS 100. You can talk to them and let them know what it's doing. Call me first Chris and I'll walk you thru the process your going to need an RMA# when you talk to CS. You will need to put that number on the exterior of the box you ship...

Oh hehehe Thunder made a funny at the expense of an old man rookie. On a serious note, I know I ask a lot of ?'s, but I don't mean to get on peoples nerves. I'm just really getting into the Hard Water fun, and therefore I want to learn as much as I can.

iceman, are you talking blade or the little tooth on the bottom between the blades? I emailed Strikemaster about the tooth on the bottom and they said the only way they sell them is on line or you can stop in at Big lake and get them. But I did find them for sell at D-Rock in New Brighton cheaper then they were on line?

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
