Word of warning. Make sure new users know just how fast they cut. I had aguy try mine last night and it went through so fast he fell forward bending my Nils bit.

Ouch, that one must sting. That isn't cheap even if just the lower part of the bit is all that is wrong. shocked

I though about letting a friend try it today, but decided not to.

I put new blades on my lazer 7",(7 years old) and after that you have to hold it up so it doesn't pull you down with it.

Best investment for augers that I have ever made. A very, very happy customer. grin

I just got from my ice tournament yesterday and could of made alot of money off of all the guys that were there. After seeing my icegator on my sled everyone asked what it was and did I like it. I told them besides my shack and Marcum this was a great investment. Of course all of the questions came out like how many holes can you drill before recharging it and how fast is it? Well after telling everyone that I have never ran the batteries out and it is quicker than any gas augers then the laughs came out. All the gas auger guys said there is no way that a battery operated auger can beat a gas auger. Here is where I could have made some good money. I got 3 guys with different gas augers to challenge me before we started fishing. I went up against a Nils, Jiffy and Strikemaster. Now keep in mind that I am only using a Strikemaster Mora auger on mine so this should give them a little bit of an advantage right? Sorry fella's but I still kicked their butt's. I told them that we will all start at the same time and the first one to drill 10 holes wins. Well after I dilled my 10th hole the closest auger to 10 holes was the Nils and he was only half way through his 7th hole.

After everyone saw the proof they all were interested in getting one for themselfs. They thought that it was awesome that a battery operated auger could be so powerful. We fished in 20 inches of ice all day and I drilled around 50 holes and the auger did not slow down once. I think that I just gave Icegator more customers after yesterday. Thanks Icegator you guys are the best.

I've been trying to do some research on these Ice Gators as well as I too am very interested in one. However, it amazes me how many posts I have run across where some one claims to have out-drilled other power augers in a race similar to the aforementioned one, without disclosing the the size holes each one of the augers were drilling. More often than not, the Ice Gators were equipped with 6 or 7 inch augers and generally speaking the power augers were commonly equipped with 8 and 10 inch augers.

I would think that with all things being equal, a larger hole (10 inch for example) would be more difficult (slower to drill) than a 8 inch or 6 inch hole, etc.... therefore without these variables being equal, how can one really come to the conclusion that one is significantly faster than the other. There appears to be no "control" value in this type of race.

My thought would be, drilling ten 10 inch holes is not the same as drilling ten 6 inch holes. It's obvious that one is going to be slower than the other.
