Barometric pressure and fishing success

Most believe that barometric pressure greatly affects fish and their behavior. Anyone know much about this concept and what pressure trends tend to lead to good fishing or poor fishing?

Higher pressure leads to lockjaw for me, a low pressure system moving in meaning the pressure is dropping is usually a trigger for the feedbag.

i have a barometer right above my computer stand at all times for hunting and fishing....it was dropping this morning and i lit the fish up...just got back from hammering some eyes, perch, and crappies.

seems i do best for walleyes when the barometer is stable and right around 30 though.

Stable and 30.00 huh? Interesting. I agree. I have had the best luck on a falling barometer it seems. But there are so many vaiables with fishing. Thats why they call it fishin and not catchin rite.

I have always been a believer of the "Hot Bite" during barometer drops. It's rare that i don't catch fish during these times.

I love fishing in the summer when it's dropping, usually means a storm is brewing-and i always find that fun to watch too.

i got the ol fishing barometer from my grandpa and grandmas cabin when they passed away..its a fish that hangs on the wall with the barometer and therometer on it....between 29.8 and 30.2 it says good fishing....anything above says average....anything below 28.8 says poor...doesn't say anything for between 28.8 and 29.8 though lol.

i know when its consistant stable weather and it's in that good zone i normally whoop them up but that could be because i try to fish more during that time...but i'll fish anytime reguardless.

i do good with stable weather...before storms, during storms, and after storms...i rarely have a bad day of fishing if you know what i'm sayin.

WunderGround the HSOforum has a Barometric pressure, weather, and radar from your local airport. It also says weather it is falling or rising. I find this a very useful online tool

thats right...just like this morning no one was out ice fishing because of a little front that passed through...high winds with some snow and i hammered them...i didn't even see another person until it passed by then i was on my way off the lake for some lunch lol.

Good discussion! Regardless of pressure you still have to be on the lake to catch fish aye!
