Pretty boy ???

It all depends on the mood they are in and what bird you are working. If it is a subdominate bird they might feel threatened or not interested. Some times the ones that come in quiet are looking to steal one away and see the Pretty Boy and head the other way, just like regular hen decoys can be your biggest asset or your biggest flaw.

It's like using a deer decoy. When it works, you'll think it's the best thing ever, but there will also be times it freaks a bird out. I took a nice tom last spring over the PB/PG setup and it was perfect. I wasn't patient enough to come all the way in and pick a fight with the decoy, but he was making tracks for the setup when I shot him.

It all depends on the attitude of the bird coming in. There is no guarantee that a bird is going to react the same way every time.

Its one of the things about turkey hunting that makes it so thrilling. Sometimes a tom will thrash another tom decoy and sometimes they spook at a hen decoy. There is no rhyme or reason other than their mood at the time.
