0 Capt. Don*
As a mechanic for many years I would sometimes get oil stains on carpet in the cars I was working on. I found brake cleaner was very effective and economical at removing the stain. We had it in bulk, but spray cans work as well, spray the area until saturated, with a terrycloth type towel blot the area, repeat until stain is gone. The smell will be quite strong, but evaporates quickly and can be helped along by running the heater. When it dries there will be no stain or odor. 0 Scott K
I would first try this in a small area under a seat, just incase the dye in the carpet fades. But this is also what we used in our shop.

0 Jeremy airjer W
We also use brake cleaner (tested in an inconspicuous location first, of course).
