Tyler23
what are the pros and cons to porting holes in a track? i have a 1 3/4 track and was wondering if that would get lighten it up and help it cool the suspension with out wrecking it? MN Mike
Tyler,What type of sled do you have? One of the big reasons people port them is to ligthen the rotating mass of the track which in turn will give you more power.Mtn. riding is all about weight and every little bit counts, you will probably get faster dumping of the snow from the suspension area too by doing this as for cooling your shocks?...... maybe. You will shorten the life of your track though, if you plan on just trail riding and such around here, I probably wouldn't recommend doing it, running for a prolong period across the lake might have some undesireable results on a ported track.Mike

Tyler23
I have a 03 600ho rev with a 1 3/4 track, i do mostly ditch banging and some trail riding
Hard617
If youre a ditch banger, I wouldnt do it. Its a mountain thing to loose snow from the track for weight concerns. you will just shorten the life of the track riding in Minnesota.
